Rock Academy — Germany's first band-based music school — is expanding its network and is looking for independent mentors to provide high-quality band coaching and instrumental sessions as external partners (students: basic instrumental knowledge/no experience, kids 6-16 years, adults all ages, ). We specifically look for active musicians who maintain their own artistic career and teaching practice.

We believe that everyone can be a musician! That's why we developed an innovative learning method rooted in instrumental learning research and learnings that most musicians had at the beginning of their journey:

• The students play in a band from the beginning and experience the joy of making music together
• For developing new skills and staying motivated, they learn only songs they like
• Regular live shows are a fun goal to practice for

You will be instrumental (pun intended!) to bring Rock Academy to life:

• Song- and band-oriented learning - The students' fun comes first, not learning notes. They play songs they like, in a band.
  
• Band coaching and live shows - A personal band coach prepares their bands for the final live rock show.
  
• Lessons in small groups - The students learn their parts in group sessions taught by mentor partners.
• We provide a community app that mentors can use - We provide optional app access for student coordination.

• ‍Professional rehearsal space partner and equipment - We provided rehearsal infrastructure for your teaching and jamming projects. Available equipment: drums, e-guitars, amps, mics, PA.
  

‍The Role:

• Teaching of group sessions, structured around songs picked by the students (in-person Berlin-Mitte, max 3 students)
• Facilitation and coaching of band jam sessions (provided infrastructure and equipment in Berlin-Mitte)
• Communicate with students and help them with their parts during and between sessions
• Ideal for active musicians looking to complement their touring and studio schedule
• Optional exchange of expertise to enhance the learning experience

Preferred partner profile (transferable skills/experiences may be equally valuable):

• Advanced or expert knowledge of your instrument (guitar, drums, or vocals)
• Minimum of 1 year experience in music teaching (intermediate+ level)
• At least two semesters of music, arts, education, or similar transferable experience
• Experience in Early Musical Education ("Musikalische Früherziehung" for 4-6 years) as a plus
• Excellent German, English at least intermediate
• Required permits to work as a freelancer in the EU
• Being comfortable with technology
• Good time-management and organizational skills
• People person with an friendly and thoughtful personality
